Winona-Ryder
Winona Laura Horowitz who is professionally known as Winona Ryder was born in Winona Minnesota. Her parents named her for the town she grew up in. Michel Horowitz was her father and Cynthia Palmer, his mother, were both authors as well as editors. Ryder's dad came from a Jewish family. Ryder considers her self Jewish. The actress has also a half-sister named Sunyata Jubal. Her older sister is Uria. When Ryder was only seven her family moved to Mendocino County California. The family resided in an area without electricity. There was no television books was her only source of entertainment to pass the time. Eventually, she was a voracious reader. Ryder began taking classes in acting at the American Conservatory Theatre when she reached the age of 12. Her first role was a success on the big screen in 1986 at the age of 15 old. Ryder was subject to bullying in highschool. Ryder hoped her career as an actor would be able to bring about change. Unfortunately, it didn't work out. Still she continued pursuing her goals. In 1988 she had her biggest break with Tim Burton's Beetlejuice. Ryder was able to continue her successful roles in many movies. In 1993, she received an Academy Award for The Age of Innocence.
